One account comes from a computer technician at a retail store who encountered a customer whose computer had slowed down significantly after installing the Qikfox Chrome extension.

This customer was also charged hundreds of dollars for what was claimed to be “virus protection” services, allegedly affiliated with the well-known antivirus software company McAfee.

The scammers claimed to sell McAfee and their personally branded cybersecurity software, which the user vehemently warns is a lie.

The Victims Left Out of Pocket

The financial losses reported by victims of this alleged scam are significant. Jinigram has 829 inquiries related to refunds and cons on the BCA website.

According to the Business Consumer Alliance, the total amount in dispute related to Jinigram is $2067, with no amount settled.

The company has received four complaints in the last three years, with three remaining unanswered. Jinigram holds an “F rating” from the Business Consumer Alliance.

BBB Complaints

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has a record of complaints against Jinigram that further highlights the concerns surrounding this company.

One recurring complaint theme is the alleged misrepresentation of Jinigram’s affiliation with well-known companies.

For example, customers have reported that Jinigram representatives claimed to be partners with McAfee, a renowned antivirus software company, to sell their services.

One customer felt very pressured into buying McAfee Total Protection through Jinigram. The sales representative kept lowering the price until the customer agreed.

However, the customer became alarmed when instructed to look for the merchant name “QIKBAY” on their checking account statement rather than McAfee.

The customer was not informed that they were not dealing directly with McAfee until after providing their card information.

When the customer called back to request a refund due to discomfort with the transaction, the representative allegedly refused to honor the request and insisted that the customer needed the service.

The customer later confirmed with McAfee that QIKBAY/Jinigram is not a partner company with McAfee.

Another common complaint concerns the quality of service and the aggressive sales tactics Jinigram employs.

Customers have reported feeling pressured into purchasing products and services they did not need.

In some cases, customers were charged for services that were not rendered, and requests for refunds were either ignored or denied.

Furthermore, some customers have reported that after engaging with Jinigram, they experienced technical issues that they did not have before, raising questions about the competence and integrity of the services provided.

For example, one customer was referred to Jinigram by HP for a printer problem.

After paying for remote services, the customer’s Wi-Fi was reportedly disrupted, and the printer issue remained unresolved.

The customer service was described as evasive when asked for a detailed account of the actions taken on the computer.

These complaints filed with the BBB echo the sentiments found in other online reviews and forums: a pattern of alleged deceptive practices, aggressive sales tactics, and unfulfilled promises that leave customers frustrated and out of pocket.

ScamPulse’s Fraud Alert

ScamPulse- A fraud alert website has become essential in the fight against scams, providing a space for victims to share their experiences and warn others.

On ScamPulse, a detailed account from a user sheds light on the alleged deceptive practices of Jinigram.

The user reported being contacted by individuals claiming to be from Jinigram, who stated they were 3rd party consultants for McAfee.

This claim was later debunked when the user verified with McAfee directly.

Despite already having the latest McAfee antivirus software, the user was misled into believing they needed an updated version and additional IP address protection.

They were charged $250 US for redundant services.

The company’s promises of no further fees were short-lived, as the user began receiving harassing calls demanding more money just three months later.

The user’s attempts to seek a refund were met with silence, adding to their distress, primarily because they were relying on the refund to pay for essential chemotherapy medication.

Legal and Government Actions

While specific legal actions against Qikfox and Jinigram were not found but the pattern of complaints and negative reviews suggests that these entities may be operating in a manner that could attract the attention of regulatory agencies.

The numerous complaints filed with the BBB and other consumer protection organizations could potentially lead to investigations by state or federal authorities.

How to Protect Yourself

Consumers must know how to protect themselves in light of the alleged scams associated with Qikfox and Jinigram. Practical advice includes:

  1. Verify the Legitimacy of Software and Services: Before purchasing, research the company. Check for reviews, complaints, and ratings from trusted sources like the BBB.
  2. Be Skeptical of Unsolicited Offers: Be wary of unsolicited phone calls or emails offering computer services, especially if they claim to be affiliated with well-known companies.

Beyond the Financial Loss
